Press Release: Cencosud, Nestlé and OXXO Colombia to Present at ATMO LATAM 2026

In addition to end users, the event will also feature sessions on policy, PFAS and training.

Brussels, Belgium (February 9, 2026) – ATMOsphere, publisher of NaturalRefrigerants.com, has published a preview of the program for ATMOsphere (ATMO) LATAM 2026, which will feature a keynote from leading South America retailer Cencosud as well as presentations from Nestlé and OXXO Colombia, among other end users.

Cencosud’s Sustainability Manager will kick off ATMO LATAM 2026, set for March 9–10 in Bogotá, by sharing the company’s vision for sustainability and its progress in adopting natural refrigerants. The company operates more than 1,000 supermarkets and has made the “conversion of refrigerant gases” one of its sustainability priorities. It operates 15 stores that use transcritical CO₂ (R744) refrigeration systems, according to its 2024 sustainability report.

Nestlé and contractor Sistemas de Refrigeración Totales will present a critical load ammonia (R717) chiller with adiabatic condensers. OXXO Colombia, Latin America’s largest convenience store chain, will speak on the same panel about its work with natural refrigerants. 

End users from the agricultural sector will also take the stage at ATMO LATAM 2026. Avo Pak, a Colombian avocado processor, will speak about its use of CO₂ refrigeration systems. The joint presentation will also feature contractor SUTRAK and manufacturer Advansor. 

Contractors and installers will have their own dedicated panel where they will share their experiences with natural refrigerants and outlook on the sector. Chilean contractor Sofrisur and Costa Rican contractor Dicoma Refrigeración are two of the confirmed presenters.

Policy and training

Day two will feature a policy panel covering standards and regulations impacting natural refrigerants in Latin America. It will feature Edwin M. Dickson, Environmental Consultant at Colombia’s Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, and Omarly Acevedo, International Consultant, Montreal Protocol and for UNIDO in Latin America. ATMOsphere will also discuss HFOs and the growing threat of PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) and TFA (trifluoroacetic acid).

Training will also be a topic of discussion on day two of ATMO LATAM. ACAIRE (The Colombian Association of Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration), will headline the training panel with additional participants announced soon. The session will bring together experts to discuss the current state, opportunities and challenges of professional training in natural refrigerants in Latin America.
